Families and kids
Fluent in family.
Learn together: grown-ups, teens and little ones, with your relatives’ own voices in the lessons and a parent who decides what a child can do.
Family Voice
Grandma’s voice, in every lesson.
Invite relatives into your family circle. They record phrases in the app, or you upload audio you already have, and those recordings become part of your lessons.
- Your family circle is private. Only members can hear its recordings, through links that last five minutes.
- Each speaker agrees before their voice is used, and can delete their recordings at any time.
- Ask a relative for a phrase, like “safe journey”, and it comes back as a lesson.
- Family recordings are never used to train computer voices unless the speaker opts in.
The kids’ space
Built for small hands and big ears.
A soft, simple space with its own look. Little ones who can’t read yet learn by listening and speaking; older kids get games and early reading.
Ages 3 to 5
Voice first: pictures, sounds and saying words out loud, with almost no text.
Ages 6 to 12
Folktales, sing-alongs, point-and-learn games and early reading.
Stickers, not streak guilt
Small wins earn stickers. Mistakes are gentle and always say what to try next.
A grown-up gate
Leaving the kids’ space takes a press-and-hold a child won’t do by accident.
Parental controls
You decide. You can see.
The parent view shows what each child has learned and practised, and puts every setting in one place.
- Daily time limits
- Play switched on or off
- Who they may swap voice notes and play with
- Progress, words learned and speaking practice
- One-time sign-in codes for a new phone
- Stop it any time, which deletes the child’s account
Safety
How we keep children safe.
Under 13: a parent says yes first
Everyone gives a date of birth when they sign up. A child under 13 gives a grown-up’s email instead of their own. That grown-up gets a plain page explaining what the child can do, and says yes or no. Until then, lessons work on the phone and nothing is shared. A no, or no answer within 14 days, deletes the child’s account.
Children have no email or password of their own, and can only reach the people, circles and families their guardian approved.
13 to 17
Teens can sign up themselves. Casual and slang words, and paid native speakers, need a linked guardian’s OK.
- No ads and no tracking tools, and no third-party code at all in the kids’ space.
- Only a first name and age band for kids’ profiles, plus their progress.
- No chat with strangers. Messages are checked by the same safety filter everywhere, and anyone can be blocked or reported.
- No purchases in the kids’ space. Plans are bought by grown-ups.
- Ages are worked out on our server on every request, so a birthday moves someone up on the day, and only staff can correct a date of birth.
